1. How is The Piccolo Gallery funded?
Our organization is volunteer-run and funded by a combination of donations, our annual art auction, and modest application fees.

  2. Why is there a $10 application fee?
The fee helps to offset some operating expenses and supports future commissions, allowing The Piccolo Gallery to continue funding more everyday artists and new creative opportunities.

  3. Why does Piccolo focus on everyday artists?
We believe art isn’t a luxury, it’s essential. We support artists who might not yet have gallery access but deserve to share their work and be paid.

  4. How can I get involved if I’m not an artist or buyer?
Help spread the word! Every bit of support helps make art more accessible! If you have skills to contribute, if you want to make a donation, sponsor a call, or be a guest application reviewer, please reach out (art is for all and we value the diverse backgrounds/insights. You need not be an art 'expert' to contribute.)

  5. Where is Piccolo Gallery located?
We’re a virtual gallery based in BC, with a focus on Vancouver and surrounding areas (in the spirit of local and accessible art delivery).

  6. Who can I contact if I have more questions?
You can email us for more information at:

  1. Can I make a donation to support The Piccolo Gallery's mission?
Yes, donations are accepted with great appreciation! Your support means the world and keeps the art of small beginnings going! DONATE HERE

  2. How are donations accepted and processed?
Donations can be made by credit card using our payment form securely processed via Stripe. Your donation is safe, encrypted, and deeply appreciated.

  3. Can I get a tax receipt if I donate?
Not at this time. The Piccolo Gallery isn’t registered as a non-profit, so we can’t issue tax receipts, but your support still makes a big difference.

  4. Why isn't The Piccolo Gallery set up as a Not-For-Profit?
Right now, The Piccolo Gallery is run independently and entirely on volunteer time. Choosing not to register as a nonprofit helps us avoid the administrative overhead/time requirements of boards and bureaucracy, so we can keep our energy focused on supporting artists directly and operate efficiently. Support for The Piccolo Gallery helps fund commissions for local artists.

  5. What will my donations go towards?
100% of donations go toward supporting The Piccolo Gallery (which is 100% run by volunteer time). Donations go towards new commission opportunities for everyday artists and operation costs. Operating costs are kept low to enable more artist commissions.

  6. What are your operating costs?
We keep costs extremely minimal—no office, no staff salaries, just occasional and unavoidable operating expenses (website hosting, proposal platform fees, business registration costs, etc.).

  1. How does the annual auction work?
Each year, Piccolo auctions a curated selection of commissioned artworks. Bidding is open to the public, and all proceeds go toward funding future artist commissions. More details to come closer to the auction date.

  2. Who can participate in the auction?
Anyone! Whether you’re an experienced collector or new to art, you’re welcome to bid, support, and discover original work by BC-based artists. Please note: winning bidders must either pick up their artwork in Vancouver or Langley, or cover the cost of local courier. Shipping is not available.

  3. What types of artwork is available for purchase?
Original visual artworks — including painting, mixed media, and more. We'll showcase available work throughout the year as the commissions are completed in our virtual gallery.

  4. How does buying art through Piccolo Gallery support artists?
All auction proceeds are reinvested into future commissions. Your purchase funds new paid opportunities for everyday artists and helps sustain a community-first art ecosystem.
  • Can I get involved in a non-financial way?
